From what's happening on the runways to what we can't stop talking about, Beauty Editor Cirilia Rose rounds up what we're excited about this spring.
Heading to one of our Spring Beauty Trend Shows? You may get the chance to meet Chicagoan Brittany Perris, the latest addition to our ranks. Equal parts sporty and glam, this working mother takes a holistic approach to beauty. We chatted with her to see what brought her to Nordstrom and what she's loving these days.
Welcome to the Nordstrom Beauty family! Catch us up on what came before.
I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and am now happily married with a four-year-old boy who I absolutely adore! I am the youngest of five (three brothers and one sister). We grew up very quickly when we lost our mother—it took time to heal, but I knew I wanted to make her proud and stay focused on my growth within the beauty industry. Word of advice: live in the moment and appreciate what you have while you have it.
Shortly after her passing, my career took off. I moved to New York City and worked for brands like Giorgio Armani, Trish McEvoy and most recently CHANEL, where I was a national makeup artist and account executive. I eventually found my way back to Chicago where my husband and I have lived ever since. I decided I wanted a new challenge and that's when Nordstrom sought me out for this role!
What's your personal beauty philosophy?
Less is more, and beautiful makeup starts with beautiful skin.
On that note, have you added anything interesting to your skin care routine lately?
I think the question is, what haven't I added? Nordstrom has so many unbelievable options—I've gone from using only CHANEL to testing a variety of things that I truly love. It's honestly hard to just name a few but if I had to narrow it down, I would say the GloPRO from BeautyBio, Dr. Barbara Sturm treatments and Virtue hair care.
Which makeup brands align most with your style?
Again, so hard to choose, but for color I love Charlotte Tilbury, Tom Ford, CHANEL, HOURGLASS and NARS. For skin care, Sisley Paris and Sunday Riley are favorites, and I reach for Dyson, ghd and OUAI for all things hair related.
Any beauty habits you're trying to adopt in the new decade?
I do enjoy my facials with an esthetician, but I also see results with the tools I have started using at home. I would say, spending less money on facials and more time utilizing the tools I have at my fingertips!
Let's talk inner beauty. Do you do anything special to take care of your mind/body/soul?
One hundred percent—my second passion is fitness and it keeps me going. I try to find time first thing every morning to work out, before my son, Adonis, and husband, Alex, wake up and I try to eat very clean as consistently as possible. My husband and I own a gym and I teach Pilates (extremely part-time). I also love supplements from Hum Nutrition and Vital Proteins.
What is your favorite part of working with Nordstrom customers?
Delivering exceptional customer service and seeing how happy it makes them.
