Lela Rose’s Blackberry Margarita
By Britt Burritt
No one makes a pretty party dress quite like Texas native Lela Rose. Wearing her colorful creations feels like a fun night out. As it turns out, no one mixes a margarita quite like the designer either. This take on her favorite drink is a lush libation suitable to the season. “I love this blackberry margarita for fall—the fresh muddled berries give it so much flavor,” says Rose. Its beautiful burgundy shade also happens to complement her fall 2018 collection. Our verdict? Berry nice!
5 ripe blackberries
¾ oz. freshly squeezed lime juice
1 ½ oz. blanco tequila
½ oz. Cointreau
⅛ oz. agave nectar
Blackberries for garnish
Salt for the rim
Muddle blackberries in a cocktail shaker until completely mashed. Add lime juice, tequila, Cointreau and agave nectar to taste.
Fill shaker with ice and shake until well chilled, about 15 seconds.
Add ice to a salt-rimmed rocks glass. Using a cocktail strainer, pour the margarita into serving glass. Garnish with two blackberries on a skewer.
